How would I cook this?

Hey guys, I got a problem. I built a clamshell minifig headpiece out of clay, but I have no idea how to harden it without damaging the fig. I've heard of people that use blow dryers, but I don't know how long to hit the piece for.

The piece:  http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/nermal/WorkInProgress/yak.jpg

Thanks in advance!

Whatever you do, don't bake

Whatever you do, don't bake the lego piece along with the fimo(I use fimo as well, and this is from previous experience). If you do then the lego piece itself will shrink, and possibly the fimo as well. I lost my only stormtrooper helmet because of this :'(

Cool!  Sorry about that

Cool!  Sorry about that torso, though...

Success! I followed

Success! I followed Kunaiblade's advice, and it hardened enough to pry off. One recommendation I will say to anyone attempting this procedure is use a junk torso. I left some nice razorblade scratchs in the piece I was using.

Well, what I tested it on

Well, what I tested it on was a stormtrooper helmet, and I added a visor out of Sculpey.  I am not one hundred percent sure that it won't bond, but I am pretty positive that it won't.  The water will most likely be hot enough to bake the piece, but not hot enough to actually make it bond with the plastic.  Hope it goes well, and I hope (in the case that it messes up which I hope it won't) that we can stay friends! :)

Mine's made of Fimo, so it's

Mine's made of Fimo, so it's still pretty squishy. Hmm, that microwave trick sounds promising, I think I'll try that first. Think it will bond to the plastic?

You could also try

You could also try microwaving some water for 2-3 minutes and then sticking the piece in there for 10 minutes or so.  I tried this on something removable, so I don't know if this method would work for something that isn't removable, though...

If it's scupley it will

If it's scupley it will shrink a little given enough time. If you let it cool (about 20-30 mins.), you shouldn't have any problem taking it off.

Hmmm, I made sure to keep

Hmmm, I made sure to keep the piece I was sculpting nice and loose one the minifig. So I'm not entirely sure, better play it safe.

OK, thank you! Will it stick

OK, thank you! Will it stick to the plastic at all, or will is come off smoothly?

Hairdryer would be the way

Hairdryer would be the way to go. It could take a while, I did it for about ten minutes but I'd go longer. After it's firm enough take all the plastic pieces out, put it in a pan, and bake.

It works nicely, that's how I made my Dwarven beards.
